Frequently Asked Questions
The games
Vincemus - Air Combat is available on Windows and macOS through Steam. Platforms for our in-development titles are not final yet; Hunt Manager is planned for iOS and Android.
No. Vincemus was designed from the ground up around mouse control. There is partial controller support, including DualShock and DualSense, but the mouse is the primary control scheme rather than a fallback.
No release dates have been announced. When we have one, it goes into the newsletter before it goes anywhere else, and it is not final until it appears on a store page.
Vincemus left Early Access in December 2024. Updates and fixes are posted through our newsletter and on the Steam store page.
Buying and keys
Directly on Steam, or as a Steam key from our own store. Both give you the same game on the same Steam account.
A Steam product key, delivered to your account on this site and by email. You redeem it in the Steam client under Games > Activate a Product on Steam. You need a Steam account to play.
Not yet. Merchandise, downloadable 3D models and 3D-printed models are planned, and this store is being built to handle them.
Prices on this site are in Australian dollars. Steam will show you its own price in your local currency.
Refunds
If you bought through Steam, refunds are handled by Valve under the Steam Refund Policy. If you bought a key directly from us, see our Refunds Policy - and note that nothing in it limits the consumer guarantees you have under the Australian Consumer Law, which cannot be excluded.
Once a Steam key has been redeemed on a Steam account we generally cannot reverse it, because the entitlement now sits with Valve. Contact us anyway - if the game is faulty or not as described, your consumer guarantees still apply.
Accounts and security
No. You can buy on Steam without ever creating an account here. An account is needed for donations, support tickets, on-site reviews, leaderboards and achievements.
Yes. Every account on this site must have at least one second factor enabled. You can use an authenticator app such as Google Authenticator or Authy, or have a code emailed to you. We will prompt you to set this up the first time you sign in.
Use one of the backup codes you were given when you enabled two-factor authentication. Each code works once. If you have run out of backup codes as well, follow the account recovery process.
Change your password immediately, then read our account recovery guidance, which covers what we can verify, what we will never ask you for, and how to get an account locked while we investigate.
For security we expire passwords periodically. When yours expires you will be asked to set a new one as part of signing in. It cannot be one you have used before.
Open a support ticket and ask. We will confirm your identity first, then remove your account and the personal information attached to it, except anything we are legally required to keep - such as records of payments.
Donations
Development on the projects listed on this site: engine licences, art and audio, hardware, and the time to build them. You can direct a donation at a specific project.
No. Virtual Convict is the trading name of a for-profit Australian company, not a registered charity or deductible gift recipient. Donations are contributions to development, not tax-deductible gifts.
Yes, at any time, from your account page. You keep any supporter benefits until the end of the period you have already paid for.
Supporter tiers carry recognition and early access to development updates. They are not a pre-order and they do not guarantee a finished game - we would rather be straight with you about that.
Steam, leaderboards and reviews
We read leaderboard data from Steam for our games and display it here. Link your Steam account and we will highlight your own position in the table.
Yes, once you are signed in. You can also leave a review on Steam, which requires owning the game there. The Add a Review button gives you both options.
To keep reviews attached to real accounts. It makes moderation possible and stops the same person posting repeatedly.
Steam account linking is being added. When it lands you will be able to sign in through Steam from your account settings, which also enables your achievements and leaderboard positions here.
Support and newsletters
Open a support ticket. Tell us your platform, what you were doing, and what happened. Screenshots or a short clip help more than anything else.
We are a small studio, so replies are measured in days rather than minutes. Tickets are read by the people who wrote the code.
No more than once a month. You confirm your address before we send anything, and every newsletter has a one-click unsubscribe link.
Use the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any newsletter, or ask us in a support ticket. It takes effect immediately.
